Somerset spelt specialist Sharpham Park is moving into dairy alternatives.
The brand, which was founded by fashion industry veteran Roger Saul, creator of the Mulberry label, has unveiled a duo of spelt-based drinks.
They are: Naked Oats & Spelt and Spelt Barista. They are touted as being “lovingly” made from the brand’s organic spelt, with the brand hoping to “revolutionise the market and provide the latest solution in the alternative drink market”.
The Barista drink was “developed in partnership with coffee professionals and baristas to create the perfect texture and taste”, said Sharpham Park, and was “creamy, refreshing and light”. The Naked Oats & Spelt drink, meanwhile, was “perfect for cereals, smoothies, baking or simply on its own”.
Shoppers were “increasingly turning to spelt for health and taste benefits with demand soaring in recent years”, said Saul. “We look forward to introducing this special grain to a wider audience across the UK – we’re confident they’re going to be well received.”
The packs gave a “nod to the brand’s provenance and proudly British status” through the use of the union flag and silhouette of the farm.
The drinks will roll into Ocado, Abel & Cole, Good Club and the brand’s web store (rsp: £1.95 - £2.50).
Sharpham Park isn’t the only brand hoping to cash in on the growth in dairy alternatives. February saw rice giant Tilda launch into the category with a new Rice ‘MLK’.
