The Jolly Hog is set to roll out three new products next month – including its first sausage rolls.
The family-run meat brand will make its debut in savoury pastries with Proper Sausage Rolls (rsp: £3.50/240g). Available in Sainsbury’s from 6 April, they feature The Jolly Hog Proper Porker sausage with sage and seasoning, wrapped in all-butter puff pastry that is stamped with a snout-and-ears design.
“We saw the opportunity for a premium branded sausage roll with a focus on quality flavour and texture,” said Olly Kohn, brand co-founder. “We are really proud to be bringing this product to market after having sausage rolls on the menu at our Bristol restaurant, Pigsty. It’s a product that is close to our heart, and we will look forward to consumers trying it.”
It will be preceded on 4 April by The Jolly Hog’s rollout of The Jolly Hen Summer Cluckers chicken hotdogs and the return of its The Jolly Cow Jolly Good Burgers.
Summer Cluckers (rsp: £3/440g) are made from chicken breast and leg with smoked sea salt. They come in packs of four with a sachet of barbecue sauce.
It will be joined in Tesco by reformulated Jolly Good Burgers (rsp: £3.50/300g) – originally a limited-edition launch last summer. The two steak patties, which include cracked black pepper and bone marrow, are self-basting and do not require oil to cook.
The two products were “unique in their own way” said Kohn, pointing to the sausages sauce sachet. “The burger has an amazing umami hit, which comes from the bone marrow,” he added.
