Cranks is expanding its portfolio with a range of premium prepared meals.
Developed by Bighams and available initially in the meat-free section of the Waitrose chiller cabinet, the range comprises: chickpea, red pepper & spinach curry; butternut squash, spinach & chestnut mushroom lasagne; chilli con vegetal; and spinach & three cheese parcels.
They are all inspired by Cranks cookery books and dishes served at the Cranks restaurant in Dartington and are GM-free, with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. They join Cranks' existing stable of sandwiches, wraps, salads, bread and pasta sauces.
"Our prepared meals is an ideal solution for consumers looking to eat more healthily without compromising on convenience," said marketing director Ben Johnson. "The range will not only appeal to consumers looking for a top-quality, nutritious meal but will also deliver incremental
category turnover and profit for retailers."
