Kraft Foods plans to transfer production of several of its leading Terry’s confectionery lines from the UK to continental Europe.
The company announced it intended to close its confectionery manufacturing plant and warehouse at Bishopthorpe Road, York, ending Terry’s long association with the city, and switch production in 2005.
Closure of the plant, which produces Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Terry’s All Gold and Twilight, is scheduled for the second half of 2005 and would result in all 316 employees at the York site losing their jobs.
