Poultry processor 2 Sisters Food Group has unveiled plans to open a £30m prepared food division in Thetford, Norfolk.
The facility on the site of an old Tulip factory that 2 Sisters acquired last year will open in the spring. It will become the group's centre of excellence for coated protein production, currently carried out at the group's Haughley Park site in Suffolk. Haughley Park will become the group's centre of excellence for roast chicken.
The new site would enable it to offer customers a greater number of healthy coated food products alongside its existing bestselling lines, said UK MD, Eddie Power.
"Our aim is to deliver significant environmental benefits as well as revolutionise the production of coated foods available in the UK," he said.
2 Sisters' owner Ranjit Singh Boparan is awaiting shareholder approval of a bid for Northern Foods.
