As part of the ongoing challenge to raise the profile of beer in the UK, a new consumer show is being launched.
The Great Northern Beer and Fine Food Weekend will be running for two days in October 2005 at The Yorkshire Showground, showcasing the best of British beer with national and regional food producers.
The show, backed by the British Beer and Pub Association, will also feature celebrity chefs, including Antony Worrall Thompson, and the beer chef Richard Fox.
Nigel Bankes, show director, said: “For the first time at one event, the diversity of Britain’s national, regional and local beers will be on tap, complemented by some of the best of the nation’s food producers.”
The event will highlight how beer and food can be matched, together with insights into the world of beer tasting and demonstrations on cooking with different beers.
Earlier this year, the BBPA spearheaded its Beautiful Beer campaign to boost the image of beer, particularly to attract female drinkers and associate beer with food. An investment of £1m is planned over a three-year period.
