n Interbrew has unveiled a new look for its newly-acquired Castlemaine lager as part of a £9m support package.
n Cans of the Aussie amber nectar will get a jazzy silver background to go with the familiar green and gold livery. The brand's core identity the XXXX name will still be prominent, and it will keep the iconic ...wouldn't give a XXXX for anything else' slogan. TV ads are planned for the spring.
n The brewing giant has taken over responsibility for the brand from Carlsberg-Tetley in the UK.
BREATH BATTLE
n CadburyTreborBassett and Pfizer have joined forces to do battle with Wrigley for leadership in the newly-created breath freshening strip sector.
n Listerine Actives produced by Pfizer and distributed by Cadbury will be launched next month to take on Wrigley's Extra Thin Ice. Both brands will be backed by multi-million pound support campaigns.
n Price could play a part in the competition, as the Listerine product will retail at 99p for a 24-strip pack compared to 75p for the same sized offering from Wrigley.
