Brewing giant AB InBev’s packaging manager has departed to join Chapel Down Winery’s craft beer arm, Curious Drinks.
Matthew Anderson, who worked for the Budweiser and Stella owner for over a decade, has taken up the role of head of brewing and production at the Kent-based Curious Drinks, where he will manage its portfolio of beers and ciders, spearhead the development of new products, and oversee the building of a new 4,000sqft brewery due to open in Ashford next year.
He said: “The chance to build a brand new brewery doesn’t come along very often in a brewer’s life and I felt I really had to be part of this. That I get to do it whilst growing and adding to the existing drinks portfolio and being part of a team that is changing the way consumers think about and drink beer is brilliant.”
Prior to taking up the mantle of packaging manager for AB InBev in 2016 he was its brewing manager, and holds an IBD diploma in brewing.
Curious Drinks was “thrilled to welcome Matthew to the Curious family”, said its managing director Gareth Bath. “Going into our seventh year of business Matthew’s brewing knowledge, combined with our passion for making distinctive beers of unique balance and style, means a thrilling new chapter in store for Curious drinkers.”
