Symington’s has made its second senior appointment in the space of a month as it announced that Associated British Foods’ Matt Lee is to become its chief commercial officer.
Lee has been hired by chief executive John Power, who only took up his current role in October. Lee is commercial and supply chain director at British Sugar and will take over the role in the new year. He has spent seven years at ABF, working across three roles including sales director at Allied Bakeries. Prior to that he worked at Premier Foods as retail sales director.
“John Power has laid out a clear and exciting strategy for the company, and I am looking forward to being part of the next phase of Symington’s development,” said Lee.
It has been an eventful year for Power, who was only appointed as chief operating officer at Symington’s in February before landing the chief executive role last month, replacing David Salkeld, who had held the position for nine years.
“Matt is someone who I have admired in the industry for some time and I am delighted to have attracted someone of his skills and experience to join the senior team as we embark on the next stage of growth and development across the business,” said Power. “We are excited about working with him as Symington’s enters a new era.”
Symington’s brands include Mugshot, Naked Noodle, Ainsley Harriott, Granose, Oatburst, Ragú, Chicken Tonight and Golden Wonder. It also produces Aunt Bessie’s, Peppa Pig, Minions and Paw Patrol under licence.
