Expert's verdict: 7/10

?The packaging looks OK, though it's very male-oriented. There is a lot of fat in some of these, especially the Creamy Cheese one, which tasted disgusting. The other flavours were OK, but I think the Chunky Veg & Tomato Hot Pot worked best as it didn't involve reheating rice or pasta. It will probably appeal to people who are looking for an alternative to a sandwich at lunchtime, especially at the price, which is quite reasonable. Some of the flavours may not survive though. The pasta ones didn't work for me as they were pretty stodgy and sickly.

?I don't normally buy microwave food, so I was dubious about trying these, but I was pleasantly surprised. I liked all the flavours, particularly Creamy Cheese, although the high fat content is off-putting. I don't really like spicy food but the curry variety was mild and I enjoyed it. The Tomato & Roasted Vegetable penne was nice too, but strong. Big Eats are quick and easy to prepare and ideal, as I am a busy mum. They are well priced and I would buy them again.
