The consumer
Tiger bread not fresh from the bakery? I was dubious. However the look, smell and touch of the loaf seemed authentic and were positively enticing! It's unsliced, which some people may find annoying, but it does allow you to cut thick, decadent slices. The taste and texture are great and I especially liked the crunchy top. The freshness was still good after two days, something you wouldn't find with a supermarket loaf. Warburtons could be giving bakeries a run for their money, if the price is right. The retailer
The packaging is different to conventional wrapped loaf offerings, giving it instant presence. The brown paper communicates the rustic, premium feel associated with in-store bakeries. The overall eating quality is great, the texture soft and the crust reasonably crisp. How well it will perform against in-store bakeries is questionable, although the additional shelf life may give it an edge. Four stars

The Grocer
Unfairly, my first reaction on trying Warburtons Unsliced Tiger Loaf was disappointment. The loaf looks so much like fresh in-store bakery bread it's all too easy to judge it as such despite its longer shelf life and lower price. The loaf, though, is excellent: the crust surprisingly crisp, with decent flavour and not too dry. The rustic packaging sets the whole thing off nicely. If Warburtons can manage expectations, they're on to a winner. Four stars
