Tulip International's acquisition of Gott Foods will enable it to become a bigger player in the highly competitive cooked poultrymeat market. The Gott Foods plant at Morecambe in Lancashire will be upgraded. The plant is within easy trucking reach of Tulip's £12m processing plant at Bromborough on Merseyside which was commissioned in mid 1999. The move, says Tulip, further underlines its commitment to the north west of England. The present thinking is that the Gott site will be run by the current management and their operational staff, although integration will lead to some role duplication. Tulip International is part of the Danish Crown group, the farmers' cooperative headquartered in Randers, Denmark. {{MEAT }}
