Allied Domecq Spirits and Wine UK is seeking to boost sales in specialist and convenience channels with the appointment of Howard Sansome as general sales manager for the sector.
In his newly created role, he will report to business group director Steven Howard.
Sansome said: "Over the last few years sales of alcohol have been flagging in specialists and c-stores. Despite that, this is an important sector for us, representing 25% of off-trade sales.
"I want to buck the trend and achieve double-digit volume growth in the sector during the next year."
Sansome joined Allied Domecq UK in 1998 as customer marketing manager. Before that he worked for Sainsbury's in a range of buying and departmental manager roles, having joined the multiple in 1986.
Sansome's appointment coincides with the recruitment of Lizzie Pawsey as brand director for liqueurs.
Pawsey reports to Allied Domecq UK marketing director Cathryn Sleight. She will be responsible for brands such as Tia Maria, the recently launched Tia Lusso and the recently acquired Malibu.
Pawsey moves from Britvic where she was Robinsons brand controller, handling TV advertising and tennis sponsorship.
