Adams Foods has shrugged off claims made last week by Sainsbury's that its Kerrygold Softer Butter line has been discontinued.
Last week, a shopper asked Sainsbury's via its Facebook page whether it intended to sell the "excellent product" again because he understood it was no longer available. In response, Sainsbury's wrote: "Unfortunately Kerrygold Softer was discontinued by the supplier so it's unavailable for us to order."
However, a Kerrygold spokeswoman said Adams Foods was "still able to supply" Kerrygold Softer Butter to UK customers, but due to rising butter prices, it was not currently available in major retailers.
After Sainsbury's suggested Kerrygold Butter With Olive Oil as an alternative, the shopper replied: "I want 100% Softer Butter only. I understand Loseley make a similar product." Loseley Summer Meadow Butter is supplied by Adams rival Dale Farm.
