Edinburgh-based brewer Innis & Gunn is starting its third year of business with two new products.
The Scottish brewer’s 7.7% abv Cask Strength Oak Aged Beer (rsp: £1.85) is a premium line extension, which will be exclusive to Asda until early next month when it will be available to specialist independents.
Meanwhile, Innis & Gunn’s Limited Edition Oak Aged Beer 2005, exclusive to Sainsbury, will be on shelf this month (rsp: £1.99). Only 50,000 bottles have been produced.
Dougal Sharp, Innis & Gunn’s MD, said: “Innis & Gunn’s Original Oak Aged Beer has grown to become the number two best-selling Scottish bottled beer in the UK off-trade.”
The company launched its oak aged beer in 2003. The original beer goes through a 77-day maturation process in lightly toasted American white oak barrels previously used for bourbon. The limited-edition beer is matured for 154 days, 107 of which are in oak casks.
