An English tea company with a strong international business is now targeting the mainstream UK market.
Hampshire-based Ahmad Tea, which has focused on its export business since launching in 1986, is hoping to leverage its global positioning to launch into mainstream UK retail.
It is currently in talks with the major retailers and hopes to secure listings by early 2014.
The business, which plans to adopt a premium positioning in the UK, sells products including fruit, green and herbal teas, as well as more ‘everyday’ classic tea blends.
“We are one of the world’s biggest tea buyers by volume and can compete on price,” said director Najma Afshar.
