Aldi Mother's Day

Aldi is marking Mother’s Day by calling on customers to nominate their mum to receive free flowers every month for a year.

To enter, shoppers are asked to email MothersDayCompetition@aldi.co.uk with a “short reason” why their mum or motherly figure deserves to win. Entrants should also give their name and the location of their nearest Aldi store.

One winner will be chosen to receive a seasonal bouquet of flowers every month for a year from Newport-based Aldi supplier JZ Flowers, delivered by DB couriers.

“We know how important it is to cherish the incredible people in our lives, and we’re committed to giving our loyal customers even more ways to celebrate their loved ones,” said Aldi UK chief commercial officer Julie Ashfield

“By working with our British supplier, JZ Flowers, our stunning, high-quality bouquets can help customers celebrate someone special on occasions like Mother’s Day and throughout the year.”

The competition is open from today (24 March) ahead of Mother’s Day on 30 March, and closes on 23 April.

It is the latest in a long series of email-based competitions staged by Aldi in recent months, as it seeks new ways to communicate directly with customers while not having an app-based loyalty scheme.

“They don’t want to have a loyalty app like Lidl’s and they want to keep it very simple, but they also see that Lidl knows all about their customers, and having no loyalty is not an option,” said Marc Houppermans, executive partner at Discount Retail Consulting. “I don’t think they have a solution yet.”
