Aldi is claiming to offer the cheapest Valentine’s Day meal deal in the country, with two starters, mains, sides and desserts for under £10.
The starter is a Specially Selected Sharing Bread with Camembert at £2.99 for 300g. That’s followed by a main course of Salmon Fillets with Heart Shaped Butter at £3.19, accompanied by a side of Specially Selected Barbers Cheddar Mash Potato at £1.99 for 450g.
For dessert there’s Mini Heart Shaped Pancakes at £1.49, 300g.
It means the lot comes in at £9.66, or £4.83 each.
The offer, which Aldi claims is “the cheapest Valentine’s meal deal in the UK”, is one of a number arriving in stores on 11 February on a ‘when it’s gone it’s gone’ basis.
Other mains include Specially Selected British Beef Wellington at £4.99, Specially Selected Duck Breast Portions at £3.49 and 21-Day Matured Sirloin Steaks.
Before Christmas, Aldi claimed to be offering the cheapest fresh turkey in Britain, starting from £2.89 per kg. The discounter’s sales jumped 7.9% year on year in the four weeks to 24 December to break £1bn for the first time.
