Aldi has rolled out its first ever range of organic vegetables, and claims shoppers will save 25% compared to a basket of organic veg from supermarket rivals.
The range will include potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli and onions. Prices will range from 79p to £1.49.
“Following customer feedback, we know our shoppers want to buy more organic products, but price is often the reason why it’s not a regular purchase,” said Aldi’s joint managing director of corporate buying Tony Baines.
“This is why we’ve launched a 100% British organic range at an affordable everyday low price. At Aldi we believe it’s important for organic produce to be available to everyone. ”
Aldi will also extend its premium Specially Selected range, which has seen year-on-year sales increase by 74%. It will also extend its core standard range, adding more fresh meat and ready meals, as well as mother and baby products, household products, and beers, wines and spirits.
Overall, the core range will increase by 11%. All the new lines will be launched over the coming months and be available in stores by January 2015.
