Aldi is marking its 35th anniversary in the UK with a voucher prize draw open to shoppers who share its birthday on 5 April.
Anyone born on the 5 April, irrespective of the year, can email Aldi for a chance to win one of 35 vouchers worth £35 each, making a total prize pot of £1,225.
The prize draw is the latest in a weekly growing list of email-based competitions staged by Aldi in recent months, with vouchers in varying numbers and values as the prizes. The discounter has been tight-lipped about any strategy behind the flurry of contests.
Aldi – which opened its first UK store on 5 April 1990 – said the latest competition was a way of saying ‘happy birthday’ to shoppers who share the milestone.
To enter, customers sharing the birthday are asked to email BirthdayTwinsCompetition@aldi.co.uk. Aldi will randomly select 35 winners who will be asked to provide proof of their birth date to claim their £35 voucher.
“We’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 35 years of Aldi in the UK and believe that everyone should have access to an Aldi store nearby,” said Aldi communications director Rebecca Heley.
“As we mark this milestone and reflect on how much Aldi has grown since its very first store opening, we wanted to ensure our celebrations were shared with those across Britain who have been on this journey with us.”
“It’s our way of saying thank you to our loyal shoppers by making their birthdays extra special this year. We hope our birthday twins enjoy this small gift from us and have a fantastic celebration.”
The competition is open from 2 April to 2 May and full terms and conditions can be found at https://www.aldipresscentre.co.uk/terms-and-conditions-for-aldis-birthday-twins-competition.
