Shoppers are stocking up on festive treats early, according to Aldi, which has reported a 17% year-on-year surge in sales of its Mulled Wine and Flavour Mulled Wine.
It comes as part of a 20% surge in sales of its entire seasonal range, according to the discounter.
Aldi said other notable rises include chocolate and confectionery, up more than 40%, and particularly its Specially Selected Cocoa Dusted Truffles, up 190% year on year.

“There’s been so much doom and gloom this year and it looks like Brits are responding by indulging in a few festive comforts earlier than ever before,” said Aldi UK buying MD Julie Ashfield.
“From mains and sweet treats to staples like mulled wine, we’ve got every course covered with our seasonal range this year. We might not be able to fix the news, but shoppers can count on Aldi to make Christmas amazing without breaking the bank.”
