Salvation Army charity shops are to sell Aldi Specialbuys products, in a two-year partnership with the supermarket.
The partnership will see unsold non-food products from Aldi’s middle aisle, such as kitchen accessories, home furnishings and clothing, given to Salvation Army charity shops across the country.
The products will then be sold by the charity shops, with profits going towards its work to support the most vulnerable in the community and provide services for the homeless, elderly and families.
It follows a year-long trial partnership in which the Salvation Army raised over £350,000 by selling Aldi Specialbuys in its shops.
“We’re committed to doing all that we can to support our local communities and it’s great to be able to support The Salvation Army stock their stores,” said Aldi national sustainability director Luke Emery.
“We know the profits raised will provide vital funds for the charity to continue its ongoing work to support those who need it most across the country.”
Kirk Bradley, head of corporate partnerships at The Salvation Army, said: “We are delighted to partner with Aldi to offer some of its products in our stores.
“This partnership will contribute to providing a vital funding source for our charity as well as great-quality products to our customers across the UK.”
Aldi also provides surplus food from its stores to charities across the country through a long-term partnership with surplus redistribution platform Neighbourly. The partnership has seen over 40 million meals donated to local communities since 2019.
