Real ales from six regional brewers in the UK will go on sale in Italy this week as part of a tie up between Food from Britain and cereal marketing body HGCA.
FFB's Italian office has teamed up with eight importers across Italy to introduce cask conditioned ale from independent breweries from Wiltshire to the Orkney Islands.
FFB md for Italy Nigel Brown said the ales would initially be introduced into 30 pubs, and rolled out to 100 in nine months on a two-month rotation cycle.
Brown said discerning Italian drinkers would appreciate the quality and regional heritage of ales from the UK:
"This fits in well with the wine culture here," said Brown. "Italians love to see real culture and history behind a product, to see its heritage, to understand how it is made."
