Pop star-cum-cheesemaker Alex James is adding a new artisan cheese to his portfolio and relaunching two existing cheeses as he seeks wider distribution for his artisan range.
The new cheese - Goddess - is a semi-soft cheese made with Guernsey cows’ milk and washed in Temperley Somerset cider brandy. It will be launched at the Big Feastival music and food festival this weekend and will carry a suggested retail price of £6.95 for 200g.
James is also relaunching his Little Wallop and Farleigh Wallop goats cheeses with improved recipes, and is rolling out a new size for Little Wallop and a new format for Farleigh Wallop, which now comes in a small log shape to make it easier to slice and grill. It was previously available as a round.
The changes come as James has struck a new, exclusive distribution deal for his artisan range with the Cheese Cellar, which will seek new listings in retail and foodservice. At present, Farleigh Wallop and Little Wallop can be bought in Harrods and Selfridges as well as a number of farm shops and delis. Goddess will be available through the Cheese Cellar after this weekend.
