Former Sainsbury director David Clapham has resigned from Alldays after a disagreement with the board over the company's strategic direction.
Neither side would clarify why Clapham, md retail, was leaving, but sources close to the company said the disagreement was over pricing policy. Clapham is believed to have wanted to bring down Alldays prices so they were more in line with other c-store operations after research showed customers perceived Alldays prices to be too high. Trials were run in a number of stores but the board refused to back him.
Clapham will leave at the end of the month. Former finance director Stuart Lawson has become operations director and David Cheyne remains commercial director with a greater range of responsibilities. Mark Robson, who has worked for Alldays for six years, has been promoted to the board as finance director.
