Amazon has hiked the minimum order value required for free same-day delivery on grocery orders by 50% in certain areas.
Amazon Prime members in select cities, including Birmingham and Worthing, will from 3 February need to spend more than £60 on groceries to qualify for free same-day delivery, as well as free click & collect order pick-up.
The minimum basket size for the free delivery membership perk had been £40 since the service was bundled in with other Prime benefits in July 2020.
The company told many Prime members this week that for orders below the threshold, the same delivery charge of £3.99 would remain. Likewise, for click & collect orders below the threshold, the £1.99 fee will continue.
“We thank you for your understanding while we endeavour to keep your grocery shopping fast and fresh,” Amazon said in a message to Prime members.
