Bulmers is gearing up for a big boost to Amstel's sales when the UEFA Champions League final is held in Glasgow in May.
The cidermaker is the UK agent for the Dutch beer which is one of four main sponsors of the soccer tournament.
It is planning to make the most of the marketing opportunity and has already introduced a new red can design reinforcing the Champions League link. Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all still in with a chance of making it to the final which would be a major boost for Amstel's brand awareness among British fans.
For the event, Amstel is branding Glasgow buses and putting banners up in the city's squares and giving away 30,000 Amstel hats.
Brand manager Andrew Napthine said: "The Champions League attracts an average UK television audience of 7.5 million.
"Our goal is to ensure it is Amstel they choose when stocking up for the big match."
