British American Tobacco has named Andrew Gray as its new group marketing director.
Gray, who takes up the role on 1 September, moves up from regional director for EEMEA (Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa).
He has worked at BAT for 27 years and has been a member of the management board for the past seven. His previous roles include president of BAT’s Brazilian tobacco company Souza Cruz and general manager for BAT Malaysia.
He replaces Jean-Marc Levy, who will take on the role of director for special projects from 1 September before leaving on 31 December following 21 years at BAT.
During his time at BAT, Levy has held a number of senior roles, including regional director for Western Europe, area director for Central & Eastern Europe and area director for Far East North and global brand director for Lucky Strike.
Gray will be succeeded as regional director for EEMEA by Johan Vandermeulen, currently general manager for Russia.
Meanwhile, Tadeu Marroco, currently head of strategy & planning and M&A, will join BAT’s management board as business development director. He will also take responsibility for IT.
“I am delighted to welcome Johan and Tadeu,” said CEO Nicandro Durante. “They will both enrich the team with their substantial business and leadership experience. Likewise, I am pleased about Andrew’s appointment; he will bring his keen commercial acumen and significant group-wide experience to bear.”
