Premier Foods has unveiled Angel Delight in a single-serve pot – in a move aimed at modernising the brand by tapping the popularity of ready-to-eat options.
The NPD was the first aerated ambient dessert in the market, claimed the supplier. The new format is rolling out now in four flavours: Super Strawberry, Bubbly Butterscotch, Chocolate Cloud, and Banana Bubbles (rsp: 50p/70g). They are made with fresh milk, and then the completed product is heat treated to achieve a nine-month shelf life without the need for chilling or preseratives.
A digital campaign is set to support the launch from May, alongside in-store activation and media.
The new product will be joined on shelf by an overhauled Angel Delight pudding mix – which has been given a fresh look to its sachets along with reformulation to include real ingredients such a strawberry and milk chocolate. The two powdered variants, Strawberry and Butterscotch, have also been tipped into a resealable drum format of 12 servings (rsp: £1.29/177g).
Angel Delight held “a special place in people’s hearts and childhood memories”, said Grace Liljemark, director, desserts and baking at Premier Foods. “Consumers are often time-poor and living life on the go; they’re looking for simple, portable solutions. The new pots offer the light and bubbly Angel Delight taste they know and love, in a convenient ready-to-eat format.”
