Child and toddler food supplier Annabel Karmel has secured a Tesco listing for a new range of chilled finger foods based on the eponymous founder’s own recipes.
Rolling into 276 Tesco stores from 6 November, the apple & chicken bites; and pork, beef & apple bites (both 200g) are the first in a new heat-and-go line called Annabel’s Famous Finger Foods.
The chicken & apple bites are an adaptation of Karmel’s most popular recipe, she said, but with tweaks to make them healthier, meaning they are now pre-baked instead of fried.
Tesco will launch the products on a two for £4 introductory offer finishing towards the end of November. The mini bites, which contain no artificial additives or preservatives, boast accreditation from registered dietician and consultant nutritionist Sarah Almond Bushell, and were designed for children aged one and above to feed themselves as a snack or as part of a main meal, Karmel said.
“The growing popularity of baby-led weaning makes now the perfect time to develop my finger food recipes into a chilled, pre-prepared product,” she added.
Further recipes are in development to complement and expand the range, said a company representative. Karmel’s other child and toddler-friendly ready meal ranges are available in Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Ocado and Iceland.
