The commercial director of poultry and food processor Moy Park, Seamus Rooney, has become the latest in a string of high-profile departures from the company since December.

Rooney, who has led the UK sales and marketing team for 10 years, has announced he is leaving to "pursue new interests".

His departure follows that of business unit director for Moy Park's European convenience foods division, Joe O'Toole, earlier this month, also "to develop new interests", after 35 years at the company.

Rooney would continue to provide support in order to ensure a smooth transition following his departure, according to managing director of Moy Park, Nigel Dunlop.

"Moy Park is extremely grateful to Seamus for his marked contribution to our growth over the past decade," he said. "To this I add my thanks for the help and support he has given me personally. We all wish him well in the future."

During Rooney's time at Moy Park, sales in the UK and Ireland had doubled to more than £600m, according to the company. He is also credited with leading the commercial team through the acquisitions of Dove Valley and GW Padley chicken companies, which took place in 2004.

Last December, Dr Trefor Campbell stepped down as non-executive chairman of Moy Park after 30 years at the company.

Moy Park is Northern Ireland's largest food processing company, with 12 production sites throughout Europe. The company was taken over by Brazilian company Marfrig Group in November.
