Appleby Westward has appointed Dean Mason as its new company-owned stores director.
Mason joins the Spar wholesaler after 16 years with Midcounties Co-op, where he was latterly the head of central operations for almost three years.
He was responsible for supply chain, space planning, pricing and local sourcing.
At his new role, he will lead the continuing development of the company-owned stores, while defining and developing the estate’s corporate strategy and culture.
“We are continuing to invest heavily into our company-owned stores division, with new stores being added to the portfolio and many existing stores enjoying re-fits,” said Appleby Westward MD Mike Boardman.
“Dean’s wide-ranging experience sees him well placed to contribute to the excellent ongoing development of our retail estate.”
Mason replaces Steve Goswell, who has left the company after two years in the role, while Phil Darch is retiring at the same time as company-owned stores operations director.
“Steve has made a considerable contribution to the company-owned stores division and will be greatly missed, as will Phil for his great support over many years,” added Boardman.
