English growers are getting good results from a little known dessert apple variety called Tentation a French registered name.
As with many new varieties, sale of its rootstock is regulated, allowing a close check on plantings.
The Grifer/Golden Delicious cross is already under trial in Kent and the West Midlands, and further afield from Europe has made the transition to South Africa.
Marks and Spencer has already praised its taste and colour, which is a pale red with pink blush.
