She was rejected on The Apprentice last month, but Jane McEvoy is hoping to win over buyers with a new chilled soup range for babies and toddlers.

The fiery 28-year- old mum from County Kilkenny - who was the fourth candidate to be sent packing by Lord Alan Sugar on this year’s BBC TV series - has hit back with Harry’s Little World, a range of 100% organic, allergen-free products.

The soups are rolling out now to Musgrave Group in the Republic of Ireland in four flavours: Tomato & Lentil and Fresh Garden Vegetable soups for babies aged six to 12 months (rsp: £1.79/2x100g), and Fresh Vegetable and Fresh Chicken & Vegetable soups for children aged over a year (rsp: £2.99/2x200g). McEvoy is also discussing listings with UK supermarkets.

The launch is the first branded venture for the Irish entrepreneur, who co-founded McEvoy Family Foods in 2009 and supplies own-label soups, salads and garlic bread to retailers in Ireland and the UK.

She had been seeking Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment for another fmcg launch but had “gone back to her roots” for the new range, which was inspired by her three-year-old son Harry. The concept had been in the pipeline for two years but was turned around in just a month.

“There are a lot of successful ambient offerings out there but there isn’t really anything fresh until you get to ready meals for 12 months-plus,” she said. “I know food and am good at it - I want to sell a million units in my first year.”
