Arla has moved to reassure UK customers that an Anchor butter recall issued by producer Fonterra does not affect UK products.
On Monday in New Zealand, dairy giant Fonterra voluntarily recalled 500g packs of Anchor salted butter with a best-before date of 26 January 2013. The move followed two complaints by customers who had found fine metal objects in their butter.
“There can be no compromise when it comes to product quality or the health and safety of our consumers,” said Peter McClure, MD of Fonterra Brands New Zealand.
Anchor senior brand manager Harriet O’Regan said the recall “in no way” affected Anchor products in the UK.
