Bread manufacturing specialist Evron Foods is to branch out into apple pies as part of a major expansion of its range.
The frozen Bramley apple-filled Easibake pies debut at IFE07, starting on 18 March at ExCel, London.
Ulster-based Evron Foods hopes the pies will be on sale at in-store bakeries in UK supermarkets from the end of this month. The company has factories in Portadown, County Armagh, and Pontypool, Wales. Evron invested in technology to produce the pies last month.
A spokesman for the 24- year-old company, which employs 150, said: "There will be a number of new products launched over the next six months."
Operations director Dermot Dornan said: "County Armagh is the Orchard County, which gives us a distinct advantage with our new line in apple pies." Evron will be supplied with locally grown apples.
"We are convinced these fresh apples, coupled with our unique pastry product, are the perfect ingredient for a delicious apple pie."
