Today’s bumper results from The Co-operative Group came too late for this morning’s papers, but The Times is certainly impressed online.
The Daily Mail also takes a look, while The Guardian concentrates on the rapid growth of the Co-op’s financial services arm.
Elsewhere, the Daily Telegraph says accountancy group Deloitte is being investigated over its role in the sale of a stake in ready meals giant Bakkavor last year – and whether a fair price was obtained.
Kraft will be waiting eagerly for next week’s trading update from confectionery target Cadbury, reports the Financial Times. There’s currently some scepticism over whether the Dairy Milk maker will hit its yearly sales targets.
The FT also reports that US frozen food giant Birds Eye is looking to go public as it bids to raise $350m via an initial public offering.
Meanwhile, The Times flags up pressure on MPs to back a tobacco display ban ahead of today’s big vote.
The papers love a chance to bash the big supermarkets and there’s just such an opportunity in the Daily Mirror, after Asda gave a young lad some stick for carrying his mum’s shopping – because it contained a bottle of wine.
The Mirror also follows up The Grocer’s story from last week about banana prices, while the Independent checks in on the London-based producers of Sipsmith dry gin.
Over the weekend, the FT had a look at the plight of organic producers, while the Independent on Sunday has equality campaigners up in arms over the new Dairy Milk ad, which it accuses of perpetuating racial stereotypes.
