Asda has made schoolwear part of its available online range delivered from 302 stores, after customers were found to be searching for George clothing when shopping for groceries on Asda.com.
From this week, families shopping via Asda.com and on the supermarket’s app can select from 34 key uniform items for boys and girls in a range of sizes when placing an online groceries order. Previously, such products were only available on Asda’s seperate George.com site.
A range of mens, womens, kids and baby essentials will also be available in 52 stores, “giving more convenient access to items such as tights, socks, underwear and babygrows as part of a food shop” the supermarket said.
More items will be added to the range in the coming months “to make it even easier to shop for childrens clothing and essential items online” Asda added.
The online schoolwear range – available for delivery from stores across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – includes two-pack jogging bottoms from £8, two-pack polo shirts from £2.50, two-pack jersey cardigans from £5, unisex plimsolls from £3 and two-pack pinafores from £9.
The 100-day guarantee for Asda’s clothing brand George will still apply on all purchases made as part of a food order, meaning customers can return items to a store within 100 days.
Next-day online grocery delivery slots are available from £1, with click & collect options starting from 50p if placing an order of more than £40 or £25 respectively.
“We know a significant number of our online groceries customers search for George clothing when placing an order for delivery or click & collect,” explained Simon Gregg, senior VP of e-commerce at Asda.
“We’re pleased to say we’re now able to meet this need, delivering both food and clothing at a time to suit our customers – the ultimate online convenience,” Gregg added.
