Asda has appointed former Tesco.com home shopping boss Barney Burgess as its VP for online.
The supermarket said he would take up the role on an interim basis until the arrival of David Devany, who is due to join the business next year from Iceland.
Burgess has more than 25 years of experience across retail, consumer and financial services sectors in the UK and abroad.
He served as chief operating officer for Tesco grocery home shopping between 2013 and 2017, a period in which it launched its click & collect service for grocery orders in the UK.

Prior to that he was an associate at McKinsey & Company, where he advised online grocery businesses on their operational strategies.
He is also a partner at Hattington Investment Partners, a private equity partnership.
Asda said Burgess would lead the Asda.com, George.com and online operations teams with immediate effect, reporting into Matt Kelleher, its chief digital officer, who joined Asda from Morrisons at the start of the year.
In July Asda announced Devany would be joining from Iceland in 2025 as its permanent vice president of e-commerce.
