Asda is ploughing £3m into organic farming by launching its own three-year conversion support scheme. The investment comes as part of a package of measures designed to help farmers cope with the industry's crisis.
Allan Leighton told some 250 farmers at its second farmers "listening" conference dubbed Growing Together at Asda's Leeds HQ that he wanted to help build a prosperous future for British farming. The meeting enabled farmers to tackle senior executives about the farming crisis and the role of supermarkets.
