Asda has teamed up with WeightWatchers to offer diners low-calorie chilled ready meals in a selection of its in-store cafés.
Sheffield, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Glasshoughton are among the stores trialling the low-fat dishes, which include bolognese al forno and sweet and sour chicken. The meals all come in at nine ProPoints or fewer.
If successful, the three-week regional experiment will be rolled out across other Asda cafés in the UK and a wider range of WeightWatchers will be added to the menus.
The idea has proved an instant hit on the WeightWatchers Facebook page, with one post calling for Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Tesco to follow suit. Another read: "Fantastic idea. Hope it takes off."
"There was a big demand for it across our members," said a WeightWatchers spokeswoman.
