There is no doubt that consumers want to be able to buy great quality food that has been produced locally.
That is why Asda is committed to buying British produce, cutting food miles and promoting local food.
This week we launched a pilot scheme in Cornwall that enables farmers to deliver produce direct to our stores. Next month we aim to open our ninth local food hub, which will serve all our stores in Sussex, to help meet the growing demand for local produce.
In fact less than 3% of our fruit and veg is flown in by air and 90% of our produce that can be sourced from the UK (when in season) is sourced from the UK.
