Asda has run into trouble with the Fire Brigade after it promoted chip pans in the February edition of its Asda Magazine.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue blasted Asda for the ad, saying that since 2007, 500 house fires have been started by chip pans in South Yorkshire alone.
Asda immediately apologised and vowed not to promote chip pans in the future. “Our intention was to promote ways for families to participate in National Chip Week,” said a spokeswoman.
