Asda is to ask its suppliers to join the cyberspace race in a move to speed up its procurement process.
It will be the second major multiple to adapt a new software package from Ramesys for use across its supply chain. The online system is already being rolled out through Tesco where 100 own label suppliers use an electronic template to submit details of their products. The details feed through over the internet as an approved product specification, cutting down on paperwork.
Ramesys business development manager for online services Jan Fura said: " The system is a step ahead in online development, simplying the relationship between the supplier and the buyer."
