Asda could be set to spark a new supermarket price war on clothing after announcing it is to sell school uniforms for just £4.75.
The 'All Age, Same Price' uniform – part of Asda’s George range – is for children aged three to 16 and consists of a polo shirt or Easy Iron shirt, a sweatshirt and Teflon-coated trousers.
The offer will be available on George.com as well as in all Asda stores nationwide for 10 days only.
The same uniform for a 16 year-old would cost £15.25 at Tesco and £21.50 from Marks & Spencer, Asda claimed.
“Every child in this country needs a school uniform and they deserve the best quality it can be,” said George managing director Anthony Thompson.
“You don't pay more for bigger adults clothing, you don't even pay more for larger-sized bras any more. So it is simple customers should not pay more for compulsory school clothes.”
Last year, George launched a £4 uniform available to 250,000 children across the country.
