Asda’s own-label vodka RTDs have proved so popular that the multiple plans to brings out new flavour variants later in the year.
The four-strong range, retailing at 89p a bottle, has been on sale for more than two years and has been recording steady growth within a category that is generally in decline.
“We think this is a category that is crying out for innovation and we want to reinvigorate the brand with some new flavours,” said Harvey Lees, Asda’s buyer for this category.
The bestselling flavour in the range is, surprisingly, the old favourite dandelion & burdock, which is mixed with vodka to produce a 5% abv drink in a 275ml single bottle.
While the RTD category continues to see other variants lose shelf space, vodka-based drinks have been making a comeback.
