Asda has agreed to add four premium spirits to its Scottish stores’ listings, in contracts totalling more than £300,000 with a trio of Scottish distillers.
Perthshire’s Tullibardine has secured an exclusive deal with Asda to will launch its new Highland Single Malt Sherry Finish Whisky (rsp: £39), which will be available in 50 stores, while Valt Vodka’s single malt Scottish vodka (rsp: £29.99), produced by Strathleven distillery, is set to will be stocked in 40 branches.
The original gin from Edinburgh Gin Distillery’s Original gin (rsp: £29.95) will be on shelf in 55 Asda outlets, along with the maker’s Edinburgh its Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur (rsp: £18.95), exclusively to the retailer.
“With sales of gin predicted to reach over £1bn by the end of 2016 and the whisky and vodka sectors continuing to perform well, it’s clear consumers’ taste palates are becoming increasingly sophisticated,” said Heather Turnbull, regional buyer for Asda Scotland.
“By launching sophisticated spirits such as Tullibardine, Valt and Edinburgh Gin in stores across Scotland, it will now mean more consumers than ever before can enjoy a truly Scottish drinking experience.”
