Asda is trialling its first major new uniform rollout in more than 12 years.
A six-week trial will see more than 2,600 Asda staff across 12 stores sport the new look, with 10 different types of uniform available, each geared to different roles.
The retailer said feedback on the look, fit and comfort would be used to inform the launch of an official new uniform, which it plans to launch nationwide from 2026.
The trial uniform includes an improved fabric to make clothing more breathable and the addition of natural cotton aimed at helping colleagues better regulate their body temperature, which it hoped would be particularly welcomed by those with peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms.
Staff working in George, produce, pharmacy, bakery and driving roles will all be included in the trial with uniforms tailored to their tasks, said Asda.
“We’re excited to launch this uniform trial – our first major redesign in over a decade,” said Hayley Tatum, chief people and corporate affairs officer at Asda.
“We’ve put our colleagues at the heart of this trial, enlisting their support to ensure the uniform not only meets their needs, but that they are proud to wear. We’re looking forward to hearing their thoughts in the coming weeks and using this insight to shape the final version of the uniform.”
