Yorkshire-based food group William Jackson has reported a surge in annual profits driven by the sale of assets as it continues to reshape its portfolio.
Headline pre-tax profits in the year to 28 April 2018 more than doubled from £16.7m to £33.8m largely due to the exceptional profit of £23.1m gained from the sale of its MyFresh salad business to Agrial in August 2017.
The loss of the MyFresh revenues saw headline sales drop from £318m to £285.5m, though turnover from continuing operations was down just 0.2% to £270.7m.
Since year-end, the group has sold Aunt Bessie’s to Nomad Foods for £210m and bought ingredients suppliers Wellocks and Belazu.
