Associated British Foods has acquired Indian food company Patak's from the founding Pathak family for an undisclosed sum.
The deal includes the Patak's brand and assets in all countries except India and completion is subject to a number of conditions, including regulatory clearance.
The combination of Patak's with ABF's retail pan-oriental business Blue Dragon and ethnic wholesale company Westmill Foods will create a leading position in the UK for the supply of world foods to retail and wholesale, ABF said.
Kirit Pathak, chairman of Patak's, will become chairman of the combined business of Patak's and Blue Dragon while Meena Pathak will take on a director role.
“With its experience in the world foods sector and international scale of operations, ABF is the ideal strategic partner for the Patak's brand,” said Kirit Pathak.
